Summer has finally officially started though we would never have guessed it with the up-and-down temperatures (especially overnight) which we have been experiencing! However, the forecast (if you can believe it) for the next week, the last few days of June, is for continuous warm and sunny weather. Let’s look even further forward, to 5 weeks from now, when the Toronto Carnival (and “jump-up” time) will be upon us with, hopefully, Guyana weather without the tropical rain.
Carnival celebrations start on Friday 1st August when Saints will be hosting its annual Caribjam Dance which will be held again this year at the West Rouge Community Centre, 270 Rouge Hills Drive (Hwy 401/Hwy 2/Port Union Rd. area). The dance is from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. with the music being provided by the Fuh-Fun band, ably supported by DJ Get Busy. The theme of this dance is a “short pants fête”, but this wear is NOT compulsory. A cash bar will be available for the standard mixed drinks (e.g. rum and coke, etc.) and non-alcoholic beverages. Guyanese food will be on sale also for your further enjoyment.
Tickets will be available for only $35 each, and can be obtained from your regular sellers or from any member of the Executive (see the flyer).
If you plan to attend, you are advised to order your tickets NOW as the hall is strictly limited by the City to holding only 350 people. DON’T WAIT! DO IT NOW!
Have a warm, safe, and happy summer!
