It’s just over three weeks to go for the Annual Golf Tournament of the charity St. Stanislaus College (Guyana) Alumni Society (Charitable Registration Number : 83661 2408 RR0001).
The tournament will be held on Saturday 12 July, 2014, at the Bethesda Grange Golf Course (formerly the Rolling Hills Golf Club), 12808 Warden Avenue, Stouffville, Ontario (just North of Stouffville Road). Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. as play will begin at 7:45 a.m. with a shot-gun start in a scramble format. The cost is $120.00 per person (the
same as last year), and this includes a cart, prizes (including a
hole-in-one bonus of $10,000.00 cash), a barbecue lunch at the
completion of all play, and locker room facilities with towels. Freshly
brewed coffee (no instant stuff) and “goodies” will also welcome you at
registration.
PLAYERS
There
will be only 144 players allowed to register for play and, at this
time, there are still spots available for more players, so you are urged
to contact us as soon as possible if you wish to participate. If you
are a single player or if you do not have a full four-some, register
anyway and we shall arrange a four-some for you.
SPONSORS
The
funds raised by this event will go towards the refurbishing and
maintenance of the science labs at the College which has been designated
by the Guyana Ministry of Education as one of the official schools to
offer 6th Form science to students preparing to attend
University. This event depends on sponsors to be successful, as about
80% of the registration fees go towards the cost of holding the event.
We are looking for more “hole” sponsors (the more, the better) who are
willing to donate $250.00+ (or whatever amount feels comfortable) and
who will be acknowledged by signs on the course and on our web-site.
Since
the Society is a charitable corporation, each financial sponsor of the
tournament will be entitled to receive a tax receipt for the full amount
of the donation. It is not too late to become a sponsor, so please
contact us if you wish to become one or if you know of anyone or any
company which would be willing to become a sponsor.
HELP AT THE EVENT
There
is much to do not only in planning the event but also in the actual
running of the event on the day. Unfortunately, we are in a “catch-22”
situation in which some of those who normally would help out are also
registered to play. Therefore, we need to find some more helpers who
also will be provided with sustenance throughout the event and with
lunch.
If
you cannot volunteer, perhaps you may know of some high school students
who may wish to earn credits for working with a charitable organization
which we are. If so, please provide us with the appropriate
information.
Please see the attached flyer for the details and the registration form.
Thank you for helping us to help improve children’s education in Guyana.
