Mark Anderson Belfast, DVM, was born on November 6, 1953, in Georgetown to parents Mervyn Linton and Elaine Belfast both deceased. He attended St. Stephen's Primary School and St. Stanislaus College. He moved to the United States in 1979 to attend Tuskegee University taking his wife Elizabeth ( Harrison) and his baby daughter Alison with him. Mark passed away at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, Alabama on Wed July 5, 2017. He left behind to grieve his two children, Alison Olivia (Byrd ) and Mark Anderson Belfast Jr. and three sisters, Gloria Garraway, Gwenette Garraway, and Audrey Newton (Garraway), his two grandchildren, Clemon Jr. ( Alison ), Aiden ( Mark Jr.) several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017, at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home, Auburn, Alabama and Memorial Services will be at True Deliverance Holiness Church on Saturday, July 15, 2017, followed by cremation. His ashes will return to Guyana at a later date.
