From Chris Fernandes, Chairman of the Board of Governors of St. Stanislaus College
Steve was a couple of years younger than I but in the game of cricket he was my senior. We were both members of Etheridge House . We played together at the inter house level and represented the College in the Northcote  and Dias Cups . We were both members of the victorious Saints team that visited Trinidad in 1961 where we played cricket, football , basketball and competed in athletics against the Mount St Benedict College teams.

From a very young age he was an exceptional cricketing talent and became a pretty good footballer as well. As expected on leaving school he concentrated his efforts on developing his cricket career and achieved remarkable success for which he became well known internationally . My expertise in cricket was so limited that I took the football route .

Steve took up residence in Barbados when he worked with the WICB and we lost contact. However time could never erase the many successes and good times we shared while at the College.

Steve has had a good innings, and can be justly proud of his many achievements both on and off the cricket field. His wife and family should be equally proud of him and take comfort from his success .

May his soul rest In peace
Chris
