It is only about three weeks to the St. Stanislaus College Alumni Association Toronto Gala Celebration of its 20th anniversary, to be held on Friday 10th May at the Spirale Banquet Hall, 888 Don Mills Road, Toronto, starting at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails, followed by a four-course dinner. The price is $80 per person, and this includes the dinner and all drinks, and live entertainment by the Fuh Fun Band, backed up by DJ Bakes. The dress is formal attire.
The Association, through its Executive, has worked very hard over the short period of its existence to raise in excess of $500,000 (Can) in support of the College in Guyana. These funds have been used to help repair the infrastructure and facilities of the school, to purchase and ship to Guyana school books, equipment, and supplies, and also to give scholarships, bursaries, and awards to students and teachers.
The work of the Executive was not trivial or insignificant. In fact, it was often very hard and time-consuming, and performed by volunteers! The Association is a totally volunteer organization with no one receiving any remuneration for work performed, and the members of the Executive even have to purchase tickets to attend events (like this one) even when they may be working at the event.
This Gala is not only a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Association but is being held also to honour those who have given willingly and unstintingly of their time and efforts to make the Association the success it is today. We invite you to join with us in this celebration of the Association and the honouring of the members of the Executive, both past and present.
