GTBI hosted its Annual Impromptu Speech Competition this year during October and November.  Thirty schools around Georgetown, including the other National Schools, viz. Queen's College, the Bishop's High, St. Rose's, and St. Joseph's, participated feverishly in order to emerge victors in this major competition.

The three students who were selected to compete in this competition were Daryll Goodchild, Kendra Warner, and Khadija Ba of Grade 10.  They were trained by Miss Melissa Glen, Graduate Assistant Mistress of the English Department, subsequent to attending a workshop orchestrated and hosted by Dr. Joyce Jonas and members of the Georgetown Toastmasters Club. This workshop was very useful as it informed students of what was expected of them in their speech delivery.

St. Stanislaus College competed in three rounds, including the finals, where their fervent competitors were from St. Rose's High.  St. Rose's emerged with approximately 623 points whereas the indomitable conquerors of St. Stanislaus College won the competition with 689 points.  What is also noteworthy is that Daryll Goodchild was named the Best Speaker of that Competition.

At the conclusion of this spirited competition the participants were given individual prizes as well as a gargantuan shining trophy as another embellishment to our ledges which are already crammed with multitudinous trophies due to our victorious streak!
