Our School in Impromptu Speaking

Congrats to Kevin Mohan who won the Guyana Red Cross Society (GRCS) HIV/AIDS Programme Inter-School Impromptu Speaking Competition , in observance of World AIDS Day 2010. Each of the twelve (12) participants had to make a presentation on a different topic under the global theme ‘Universal Access and Human Rights’. Kevin's topic was "Should HIV positive persons be allowed to access public education?" We wish him continued success in all future public-speaking engagements.

GBA Visits St. Stanislaus College

President of the Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) and national coach, Gokarn Ramdhani, recently visited the St. Stanislaus College in Georgetown, and held brief discussions on the game with students there. The interested students were given valuable tips on the game. The visit by the GBA head was part of the association’s mandate to ensure that the game, which was introduced at specific schools throughout the country two years ago, is being played at those institutions.

Football and Hockey

Saints is participating in the Scotia Bank-Pepsi Schools Football Tournament which opened recently at the GFC ground.  Twelve schools are participating in both male and female categories.  Saints Coach Uzzi Yisrael was one of the14 teachers and coaches who successfully completed a two-day Football Coaches Course conducted by instructors Rajesh Latchoo of Trinidad and Tobago and Stan Harmon of the United States of America at the Ministry of Education Sports Complex on Carifesta Avenue.  We recently received donated sports equipment through the Scotia Bank/Pepsi Schools Football Academy

Past and present students of Saints have formed a hockey team.  Having benefitted from coaching by the Hikers Hockey Club for a number of years, they now feel they have the numbers and capacity to venture out on their own and form their own independent club
Those elected were: President- Joel Hunte, Vice President- Marcia Persaud, Treasurer- Rushelle Matthias, Secretary- Yonnick Peters and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer- Hilton Chester.
Saints are expected to rest much of their hopes squarely on Joel Hunt and Leroy Jack who are both a part of the current national Under-21 squad.

The first match saw the newly formed Saints Club take on the Airbenders, a side made up primarily of the women’s national squad.  The All Greys take the field for the first time against Saints on Saturday March 17
